In the case of internal
analysis Flow Simulation can
analyze fluid flow only in a fully enclosed volume. So, before analyzing
you may sometimes need to change geometry and close all the model’s
openings by lids. This tool allows you to create those lids automatically.
Restrictions and Limitations
Note, that if you change an opening, the lid will not automatically
change with it, you have to recreate the lid.
Procedure
- Open the Create Lids
dialog:
Tip Also you
can open the Create Lids dialog
from the Check Geometry pane
or the Leak Tracking pane
by clicking Open Create Lids
.
In the Check Geometry pane,
this option is available, if Check Geometry dialog
is closed and the Check Geometry pane
is kept visible. See “Check Geometry”.
- Under Selection:
Select the Planar Faces the Openings Belong to
. If there are no such faces, you will
have to make the lids manually.
If necessary, you can adjust the lid's thickness,
by clicking the Adjust Thickness
icon and inputting value in the Thickness box.
Note: Lids will be
created for all holes located within the bounding box of the selected planar
faces. So some lids may be outside of the selected faces.
- Click OK
.
Results
If you are working with an assembly, the new
LID1...LIDN parts will be created. If you are working with a single
part, the new LID1...LIDN features will be created.
Tip To ensure
that the geometry is ready for analysis you can use Check Geometry tool
(see “Check Geometry”).
