dialog:On the ribbon, click Flow Simulation > Results > Insert > Point Parameters.
On the toolbars, click Point Parameters on the Flow Simulation Results Features toolbar.
In the menu, select Tools > Flow Simulation > Results > Insert > Point Parameters.
In the Flow Simulation analysis tree, right-click the Point Parameters item and select Insert.
Specify the points by using one of the following options:
Reference
. Points are defined by the selected geometrical
features.
In the graphics area select a vertex, point,
planar face or edge on which you intend to specify point goals.
These objects appear in the Points, Vertices,
Planar Faces and Edges
.
You can select any points and/or vertexes as reference objects. Also you can select edges and/or planar faces as reference object, in this case reference points will be set at the geometric centers of the selected objects.
To remove a reference object from this list, select it in the list and press Delete or right-click it and select Delete or select it again in the graphics area or in the flyout FeatureManager design.
Pattern
. The points are evenly distributed over
the selected Planes, Faces, Sketches,
Curves and Edges
.You can select one or more items.
Select a plane, sketch or curve in the flyout FeatureManager design tree or in the graphics area select an edge or surface.
If a plane is selected, you can specify the Offset
of the points plane from the selected
reference plane by using the slider or typing the offset value in
the box. You can specify an individual offset for each of the selected
planes.
Specify Number of Points
or Spacing
defining the distance between the points.
Pick from Screen
. Allows you to select points on a plane
or planar face in the graphics area.
In the graphics area or in the flyout FeatureManager
design tree
select a Plane or Planar Face
.
The only requirement for assemblies is that you must select planes that belong to the top-level assembly.
You can specify the Offset
reference plane by using the slider or
typing the offset value in the box.
Click Pick Points
to allow the point selection.
We recommend to use the Normal To view while you select points.
Click at the selected plane or face in the graphics area to select a point on the plane. The point is automatically added to the table. The table contains all the selected points.
To remove a point, select the point in the table
and click Delete Point
. You can also remove all points from
the table by clicking Delete All
.
Coordinates
. Allows you to specify a set of points
by creating a table with points coordinates.
To add a point to the table
, type X, Y and Z Coordinate of the
point and click Add Point
. You can edit point coordinates directly
in the table
.
To edit point coordinates, double-click the cell and type the desired value.
To remove a point, select the point in the
table and click Delete Point
. You can also remove all points from
the table by clicking Delete All
.
While specifying points coordinates you can also import data from *.csv and *.txt files. The values in the file must be separated by commas or semicolons. To import data from the file, click Import File and then select the appropriate file.
You can also copy coordinate values from Microsoft Excel. Create a table of points in Microsoft Excel. The x, y and z coordinates must be specified one after another in a row (the same as in the table). Copy the Microsoft Excel table into the Clipboard, then click on the table in the dialog and press Ctrl+V. All points that are inside the Computational Domain will be inserted into the table.
Coordinate System
. Allows you to select a Coordinate System
in which X, Y and Z components of
vector parameters are calculated. By default, the Global Coordinate
System is selected.
You can replace the default coordinate system by selecting your coordinate system in the flyout FeatureManager design tree.
To create a coordinate system, click Insert > Reference Geometry > Coordinate System.
The selected coordinate system is used to evaluate the components of vector parameters. Coordinates of points are specified in the Global Coordinate System only.
Moving selection. When checked, the selected points move with the rotating region.
This option is available if you have selected the Local region(s) (Sliding) option on the Analysis Type tab of the General Settings or Wizard dialog (see “Rotation” for details).
To change the list of parameters available for selection, click More Parameters (see “Customize Parameter List” for details).
Under Time History you can select time moments for which you want to display the parameters values.
The time step of results outputs is specified under the Time-dependent option on the Analysis Type tab in the Wizard dialog or in the Calculation Control Options dialog during the definition of the time-dependent task (see “Time-Dependent Analysis”).
Use CAD geometry. By default, Flow Simulation shows the original model while displaying results. Depending on how exactly the model is resolved by the computational mesh, the geometry actually used in the calculation can differ slightly from the original model geometry.
Clear this option to use the Flow Simulation-interpreted geometry for the plot.
Interpolate. By default, Flow Simulation displays the parameter distribution so that values determined in the cell centers are interpolated through the computational mesh cells.
Clear this option to switch off the interpolation and accelerate operations related to displaying results. In this case parameter values in the cell centers will be displayed without any interpolation between cells.
Excel Workbook
format
. Allows to select the file format that
you know you can open.
Click Show to calculate and display data. The calculated parameters values are displayed on the pane at the bottom of the screen.
If you want to recalculate displayed data, click Refresh
.
If you want to copy the selected value, click Copy
or right-click the value and select Copy.
If you want to copy the table, click Copy Entire Table
or right-click the value and select Copy
Entire Table.
By default, in the case of a time-dependent (transient)
analysis the parameters values in the bottom pane are displayed
for the currently loaded time moment (results file). To see the
parameters values for all selected time moments, in the bottom pane
click Time History
. To switch back to the current time moment
values, click Time
.
Click Export to Excel to calculate the parameters and export data in a tabular format into Microsoft Excel.
If you want to export data of the group of Point Parameters into Microsoft Excel at once, in the Flow Simulation analysis tree, right-click the Point Parameters icon and select Export All to Excel.

close the dialog.The new Point Parameters item appears in the Flow Simulation analysis tree.
To edit definition of the Point Parameters, in the Flow Simulation analysis tree, double-click the Point Parameters item, or right-click the item and select Edit Definition.
