dialog:On the ribbon, click Flow Simulation > Results > Insert > Surface Parameters.
On the toolbars, click Surface Parameters on the Flow Simulation Results Features toolbar.
In the menu, select Tools > Flow Simulation > Results > Insert > Surface Parameters.
In the Flow Simulation analysis tree, right-click the Surface Parameters item and select Insert.
Reference Face/Surface
. Selects faces of the model.
The selected faces and surfaces are listed in
the Faces
list.
You can also select components. If you want
to split the selected components into faces, select the desired
components in the selection list and click List All Component Faces
(see “Selection List” for details).
If you want to display parameters on all the faces which are the solid-fluid boundaries, click Use all faces.
Reference
. Creates a plane parallel to the selected
plane or planar face or normal to the selected curve.
XYZ Planes
. Creates a plane parallel to one of the
default planes.
Select one of the default planes.
To adjust the plot plane position:
Click and drag the arrow handles at the center of the plot plane in the graphics area.
Use the slider, arrows or type a value in
the Offset
box to move the plot plane.
Normal to Screen
. Allows you to define the plane normal
to the screen.
Normal to Screen. Allows you to define the section plane normal to the screen. The plane is specified through two reference points.
To specify points press the mouse button where you want the first point to be, drag to the second point and release the mouse button. You can also type the X and Y coordinates of each point. Coordinates are specified in pixels with respect to the left bottom corner of the graphics area.
Normal to Screen, Vertically. Allows you to define the section plane normal to the screen and vertical.
To define the plane, click in the graphics area or type the X (Y) coordinate of the reference point. Coordinates are specified in pixels with respect to the bottom left corner of the graphics area.
Normal to Screen, Horizontally. Allows you to define the section plane normal to the screen and horizontal.
To define the plane, click in the graphics area or type the X (Y) coordinate of the reference point. Coordinates are specified in pixels with respect to the bottom left corner of the graphics area.
For the Normal
to Screen (Vertically, Horizontally) mode,
fix the selected section plane. Click Fix
to fix the plane while you rotate, move or
pan the model.
Cut Plot
. Links surface parameters
to an existing cut plot to get the parameter values in the cut plot
plane.
Select one of the default planes.
To adjust the plot plane position:
Click and drag the arrow handles at the center of the plot plane in the graphics area.
Use the slider, arrows or type a value in
the Offset
box to move the plot plane.
Select any existing cut plot in the Cut Plots list to link surface parameters to the cut plot and get the parameter values in the cut plot plane.
If the cut plot position changes, the surface parameters are updated for the new position.
To improve accuracy of the surface parameters calculation on faces not belonging to a solid body or boundary between different solids, specify a Surface Goal of any appropriate type at these faces before starting the calculation (see “Surface Goals”). Such kind of faces includes boundaries between porous medium and fluid, boundaries between bodies of the same solid material and faces of the components disabled in Component Control (see “Component Control”).
Separate. To display parameter values separately for each closed contour (loop) within the selected surface or plane, select Separate option.
Sort by Parameter. If the Separate option is selected, the parameters in the output are sorted by the contour number. To sort the parameters by their name instead, select Sort by Parameter.
Consider entire model. For an analysis with the Symmetry condition specified you can select the Consider entire model option to calculate surface parameters as if the entire model was analyzed.
To change the list of parameters available for selection, click More Parameters (see “Customize Parameter List” for details).
For vector parameters with the separately
listed X, Y and Z components you
can select a Coordinate System
calculated. By default, the Global Coordinate
System is selected.
You can replace the default coordinate system by selecting your coordinate system in the flyout FeatureManager design tree.
To create a coordinate system, click Insert > Reference Geometry > Coordinate System.
For forces set on non-closed surfaces, the actual force value is the displayed value plus the Reference Pressure multiplied by the surface area. The Reference Pressure value can be viewed in the Results Summary (see “Results Summary” for details).
Under Time History you can select time moments for which you want to display the parameters values.
The time step of results outputs is specified under the Time-dependent option on the Analysis Type tab in the Wizard dialog or in the Calculation Control Options dialog during the definition of the time-dependent task (see “Time-Dependent Analysis”).
Excel Workbook
format
. Allows to select the file format that
you know you can open.
Offset (off by default). If a solid wall is selected for displaying surface parameters and this option is selected, Flow Simulation takes the parameter values in the centers of fluid volumes of Solid-Fluid Boundary Cells and displays it on the selected solid surfaces. If the Offset option is not selected, the surface plot shows the values of parameters at the selected solid surfaces, not in the adjacent fluid volumes (e.g.thevelocity at the surface of a non-moving wall is always equal to zero).
Click Show to calculate and display data. The calculated parameters values are displayed on the pane at the bottom of the screen.
If you want to recalculate displayed data, click Refresh
.
If you want to copy the selected value, click Copy
or right-click the value and select Copy.
If you want to copy the table, click Copy Entire Table
or right-click the value and select Copy
Entire Table.
If the Separate option is selected under Selection, you can display closed contours (loops) within the selected surface or plane.
To see the list of contours that are recognized
in the face or plane, click Display Contours
.
To exclude a contour from the surface parameters output, clear the check box next to the name of the contour in the list.
To highlight the contour in the graphics area, click the contour name in the list.
By default, in the case of a time-dependent (transient)
analysis the parameters values in the bottom pane are displayed
for the currently loaded time moment (results file). To see the
parameters values for all selected time moments, in the bottom pane
click Time History
. To switch back to the current time moment
values, click Time
.
Click Export to Excel to calculate the parameters and export data in a tabular format into Microsoft Excel.
If you want to export data of the group of Surface Parameters into Microsoft Excel at once, in the Flow Simulation analysis tree, right-click the Surface Parameters icon and select Export All to Excel.
To preview the parameters
values, click the Detailed Preview
button
at the top of the dialog.
Now all changes made in the plot definition immediately show up on the pane at the bottom of the screen.
All changes made in the Preview mode are not
saved until you click OK
.
to
save the current definition of Surface Parameters and
close the dialog.The new Surface Parameters item appears in the Flow Simulation analysis tree.
To edit definition of the Surface Parameters, in the Flow Simulation analysis tree, double-click the Surface Parameters item, or right-click the item and select Edit Definition.
