Edit a Surface Goal

Allows you to edit an existing surface goal.

Procedure

  1. In the Flow Simulation Analysis tree, right-click the surface goal item and select Edit Definition.
  2. Under Selection, select faces on which you intend to specify the surface goals in the graphics area (see “Selection List” for details).

The selected faces appear in the Faces to Apply the Surface Goal  list.

You can also select components in the flyout FeatureManager design tree.

    Tip

To quickly select faces on which you have specified a boundary condition, fan or surface source, select the corresponding feature in the Flow Simulation Analysis tree. All faces belonging to the feature will be automatically selected.

  3. Under Parameter, select a parameter of interest in the Parameter list.
    • For non-integral parameters (e.g. “Static Pressure”, or “Total Pressure”, etc.), in the list below select which parameter value, namely, minimum (Minimum value), average (Average value), maximum (Maximum value) or bulk average (Bulk average value) will be used as a surface goal.

All values are calculated on the selected faces.

    • For the components of vector parameters (“Force X”, “Force Y”, “Force Z” etc.), select the Coordinate System  in which this goal is calculated.

By default, the Global Coordinate System is selected.

You can replace the Global Coordinate System by selecting your coordinate system in the flyout FeatureManager design tree. To create a coordinate system, click Insert > Reference Geometry > Coordinate System.

  4. Under Options, select the Use for convergence control check box if you want the goal’s convergence to be included as a condition of finishing the calculation.

If you clear this check box, the goal’s convergence is used for information only so the calculation may be stopped before the goal is converged.

See “Finishing the Calculation” for details.

  5. Click OK .
