To vary input parameters, select the corresponding parameters from the Add Parameter list.
The following parameters can be used as variable input parameters:
parameters specified in the General Settings as physical features characteristics or as default parameters (default wall temperature, default wall roughness) or as ambient conditions for external analyses (pressure, density, temperature, velocity),
parameters specified as the Boundary Condition (velocity, mass/volume flow rate, pressure, temperature, etc.),
parameters specified at the model surfaces and in the solid components as conditions of the engineering device models (see “Input Data” for a list of currently available engineering devices),
parameters specified as characteristics of the Global Mesh and the Local Meshes;
Note that not all of the parameters are supported for the parametric study; parameters that are not supported are automatically filtered out from the Add Parameter list.
When a parameter is added to the variables list, it is removed from the Add Parameter list.
Click Add Equation
to select the existing SOLIDWORKS equation and select the parameter specified
by using this equation (dependency) from the list.
The SOLIDWORKS dependency allows to define dimensions using global variables and mathematical functions, and create mathematical relationships between two or more dimensions in parts and assemblies.
Click Add Dimension Parameter
to select particular model dimensions
or distance mates:
To select a model dimension, make sure the desired dimension is displayed in the graphics area, then select it in the graphics area, select the dimension you want to vary.
To select a distance mate in assemblies, double-click the mate.
The computational mesh will be different in each calculation performed in accordance with the model geometry governed by the dimension value. Therefore you should ensure that you would have enough mesh resolution in the region of interest for each calculation, i.e. at any dimension value within the specified range. For that, the local mesh settings can be used. You can also mate the component representing the local region with the dimension dependent component so that the local mesh settings will move together with the component of interest.
Note, that if the geometry model is modified during the calculation, all variable dimensions and mates will be reset to their default values after finishing the calculation.
Click Add Design Table Parameter
to select parameters of the existing Design Table and
select the dimension or the mate from the list.
Note, that you can add dimensions or mates specified in the top assembly only.

to add the selected parameters to the Parameter list,

To remove the parameter from the variables
list, select the corresponding row in the Parameter list
and click Remove Parameter

allows you to specify a fix set of values.
This option is available for all modes except the Goal Optimization mode.
To complete definition of the parameter variation, specify a fix set of discrete values separated by commas.
To sort the specified values ascending, click Sort Values

Range
allows you to specify a range of values.
This option is available for all modes except the What If Analysis mode.
To complete definition of the parameter variation,
specify the Minimum
and Maximum
parameter values, which denote an admissible variation range
for the selected input variable parameter.
Range with Number
allows you to specify a range and a number
of values.
This option is available for the What If Analysis mode only.
To complete definition of the parameter variation,
specify the Minimum
and Maximum
parameter values, which denote an admissible variation range
for the selected input variable parameter, and a Number of Values
.
Range with Step
allows you to specify a range of values
and a step between two adjacent values.
This option is available for the What If Analysis mode only.

for the selected input variable parameter, and the Step Between Values
.
Step Around
allows you to specify steps around the
current value.
This option is available for the What If Analysis mode only.

, the Number of Positive Steps
and the Step Between Values
.
For Solid Materials parameter
the Discrete Values
type is available only.
Click
to apply the selected values, click
to cancel the definition.
You can combine the parameters defined by Discrete Values only and the number of values must be the same for each parameter.
To include variable parameters in a group
(where applicable), select two or more parameters and then click Combine
or right-click and select Combine.
The combined parameters are grouped as Group of Parameters <N>, the <N> is a sequence number of the group. Each parameter of the group is also marked by <N> and you can edit it in the dialog including the entire group.
To exclude parameters from the group select
the desired parameters and then click Separate
or right-click and select Separate.
