Manual Time Step as a Time-dependent Table

The F(time) - table and F(iteration) - table tools allow you to specify the manual Time step as a tabular dependency on time (only for Time-dependent analyses).

Procedure

  1. In the Dependency type list, select the F(time) - table or F(iteration) - table.
  2. In the Table of values specify the following values:
    • Start. Defines a start moment of the selected time period.

      Note:

      The Start values in the Table of values must be sorted in ascending order (the smallest values at the top, with values increasing going down the table).

    • Value. Defines a value of the time step at the start time of the selected time period.

    • Type. Defines the distribution of time steps over the selected time period:

      • [auto]. The time step is specified automatically by Flow Simulation. This is the default option.

      • Constant. The specified time step is a constant over the selected time period.

      • Linear Joint. A linear distribution type where the size of the time steps increase/decrease linearly between the specified values.

      • Exponential Joint. The size of the time steps over the selected time period is defined by an exponential function and the specified Definition value (k):

      • Logistic Joint. The size of the time steps over the selected time period is defined by a standard logistic sigmoid function and the specified Definition value (k):

      • Definition (if needed). Defines a power index for the Exponential Joint and Logistic Joint types.

      • Number (for information only). Displays the estimated number of iterations for the specified time step.

  3. For the F(time) - table if you want to repeat the same set of sequence values continuously, check the Periodic option.
  4. Click Chart  to display the data plot.
    Tip

    You can modify the dependence by dragging its tabular points in the plot area.
