Rotation Axis

Allows you to specify the rotational axis of the global rotating frame of reference.

You can specify the rotational axis as either a reference axis or an axis of reference coordinate system.

Procedure

  1. Specify the rotational axis:
    • In the flyout FeatureManager design tree, select a reference Axis.

To create an axis, go to Insert > Reference Geometry > Axis.

    • In the flyout FeatureManager design tree, select a reference Coordinate system (or keep the default Global Coordinate System), then in the Rotation axis, select an axis of this coordinate system you want to be a rotation axis.

To create a reference coordinate system, go to Insert > Reference Geometry > Coordinate System.

    Tip

During the definition of rotational axis in the graphics area you can see the cyan arrows denoting the rotation axis and its positive direction, and the direction of the specified angular velocity value. The positive angular velocity value denotes angular velocity vector co-directional with the axis direction.

  2. Click OK.
