Select Results to Transfer

Allows you to select a Flow Simulation project or results file (*.fld), which results will be applied as initial conditions for the current project. If the parameter values to be applied cannot be applied to the current project due to differences in the projects (e.g., differences in computational domains or fluid and solid regions, so that a parameter in the project of reference is not defined in the current project) then the default values (specified under the Thermodynamic Parameters, Velocity Parameters, Turbulence Parameters and other items) will be used in the current project.

Prerequisites

On the Initial Conditions tab (or Initial and ambient conditions tab if the External analyses type is selected on the Analysis type tab), select Transferred as Parameter Definition type.

Procedure

  1. Select the method in which the results are taken:
    • Select Flow Simulation project, if you want to take the results of a currently opened model’s project. This is the easiest way to take results obtained earlier in the project of the current model. If you want to take results obtained in another model, you need to open this model first or use the Flow Simulation results (*.fld) file option.

    • Select Results (*.fld) file if you want to take the results from a results (*.fld) file of any available Flow Simulation project.

      Flow Simulation stores results in the <ProjectNumber>.fld file.

      This file is stored in the project folder accessible by clicking Flow Simulation > Project > Open Project Directory  on the ribbon by right-clicking the project name in the Flow Simulation Analysis tree and selecting Open Project Directory.

      The r_000000.fld file contains the results for the zero iteration, i.e. the initial computational mesh and initial parameters distribution. Please note that when a results file (*.fld) is used for transferred conditions, a file containing the mesh (*.cpt) must be present in the same folder.

  2. Click Browse to select either the desired Flow Simulation project or the desired Flow Simulation results (*.fld) file. As a result, the project (or file) name appears in the Selected Flow Simulation project or results (*.fld) file box.
  3. Click OK.
