Specify Reference Fluid Temperature

Allows you to manually specify an appropriate reference fluid temperature in the calculation for the heat transfer coefficient h:

where q is the heat flux from the wall to the fluid, calculated by Flow Simulation, Tw is the wall temperature calculated by Flow Simulation, Tf is the Reference Fluid Temperature.

Procedure

  1. Open the Reference Parameters  dialog:
    • On the ribbon, click Flow Simulation > Results > Insert > Reference Parameters.

    • On the toolbars, click Reference Parameters on the Flow Simulation Results toolbar.

    • In the menu, select Tools > Flow Simulation > Results > Insert > Reference Parameters.

    • In the Flow Simulation analysis tree, right-click the Reference Parameters item and select Insert.

  2. Under Selection select model faces or surfaces on which you intend to display the heat transfer coefficient distribution.

You can select faces in the graphics area or you can also select components in the flyout FeatureManager design tree.

If you want to split the selected components into faces, select the desired components in the selection list and click List All Component Faces  (see “Selection List” for details).

The selected faces and surfaces are listed in the Faces to Apply the Reference Parameters  list.

  3. Under Fluid Temperature, specify the Reference Fluid Temperature value.

It also can be specified as a function of the provided parameters by clicking Dependency (see “Dependency”).

  4. Click OK.
