Within a tracer study you can specify a
surface source for the analyzed admixture.
Procedure
- Open the Surface Tracer Source
dialog:The Surface Tracer Source dialog
opens.
- Under Selection,
select faces on which you intend to specify the surface source in
the graphics area (see “Selection List” for details).
The selected faces appear
in the Faces to Apply the Surface Tracer Source
list.
You can also select components in the flyout FeatureManager
design tree.
Tip To quickly
select faces on which you have specified a boundary condition, fan
or surface source, select the corresponding feature in the Flow Simulation Analysis tree. All
faces belonging to the feature will be automatically selected.
You can also select a reference Coordinate System
to specify a non-uniform mass distribution
over the selected faces.
The reference Coordinate System selected
by default is the Global Coordinate System (see “Global Coordinate System” for details).
Tip You can
replace the default coordinate system by selecting your coordinate
system in the flyout FeatureManager
design tree.
To create a coordinate system, click Insert > Reference Geometry
> Coordinate System.
If you want to use a cylindrical Coordinate System, select the axis of the specified Coordinate System as
the Reference axis. The
selected Coordinate System and Reference
axis also define a local spherical coordinate system.
- Under Tracer, select the
tracer you want to specify the source for.
In case you consider a tracer with the Saturation Pressure specified
in the Engineering Database,
you can simulate its evaporating from a liquid spot by selecting Liquid surface option.
If this option is selected the Parameter group
is unavailable.
- In the Parameter group select
the appropriate source type from the following types:
Mass Fraction
, dimensionless. Specify the value for
the mass fraction.
Mass Flow
, in kg/s. Specify the value for the mass
flow rate.
Specific Mass Flow
, in kg/s/m2.
Specify the value for the mass flow per unit area.
If you want to specify a time- or coordinate-dependent
value, click Dependency
to the right of the parameter value input box (see “Dependency” for details).
- Click OK
.-or-
Click Keep Visible
before
clicking OK
to keep the dialog open and define more surface
tracer sources.
Results
The new surface tracer source item (SS) appears in the Flow Simulation Analysis tree.
To edit the definition of a surface source, in
the Flow Simulation Analysis
tree, double-click the surface tracer source item, or right-click
the item and select Edit Definition.
Also you can use a callout in the graphics area
to edit definition of a surface source (see “Feature Callout” for details).
