A summary of the various Field Types available on a record property card.
Text fields accept a single row of plain text. Can be alpha, numeric or a mixture of both. Special characters can also be used.
The minimum and maximum number of characters is defined by the System Administrator.
Number fields accept a numeric value only (as a whole number, no decimal places).

Date field values are selected from the calendar. To open the calendar use the field drop-down button.
List of Values (text) field values are selected from the drop-down list. To expand the list, left click in the field or use the field drop-down button.
Manual entry may be permitted, but this option can only be defined by the System Administrator.

Data Source fields provide a link to data from an external system. This field type is not available for users on the Web Client.
This is a system field which provides a sequentially incrementing number, and cannot be edited by users on the Web Client. This field and its permissions are defined by the System Administrator.
SOLIDWORKS Manage Desktop Client users may have additional permissions to modify this field.
Hyperlink fields convert the value entered to a hyperlink. This can be used for information such as a web address or email address.
Memo fields are multi-line text fields. When the field is selected, if no tool bar is display, this is a plain text memo field. Any text entered or pasted in this field will be converted in to plain text. If a tool bar is displayed, then this field has been configured for rich text and any text entered or pasted can be formatted by the user. Images can also be pasted in to a rich text field
The field type is defined by the System Administrator.
Object Type fields provide a link to other objects with SOLIDWORKS Manage. Information from other records can be selected from a popup grid.
The information displayed in the grid and value displayed on the property card is defined by the System Administrator.
Calculated fields are used to perform calculations on multiple numerical fields or pre-defined equations and cannot be edited by the user (i.e. Qty * Price + Tax). This field is defined by the System Administrator.
Lookup fields return a value from another SOLIDWORKS Manage object, based upon field values on the current property card (i.e. Company Name). This field is defined by the System Administrator and cannot be edited by the user.

Concatenated fields are used to merge multiple fields together to form a longer string (i.e. Part Number - Description - Date). This field is defined by the System Administrator and cannot be edited by the user.
