Lifecycle States

Records and Files in SOLIDWORKS Manage exist in various Lifecylce States, dependent upon the processes they have been sent through.

 

Each Lifecycle State is represented by an icon, see table below:

 

Record State

 

Icon System State Description

Checked In

Any User (with access permission) can Check Out this item.

Checked Out

Checked Out by the current User and Checked Out on the same PC.

Checked Out

Checked Out by the current User but Checked Out on another PC.

Checked Out by another User Checked Out by another User.

Awaiting Release

Record needs to be released (Use Right-click, Release).

Released

Record is Released. Major revision increase follows on Check Out.

In Process

The record is currently in a Process and is not editable.

Obsolete

Record has been marked as obsolete and is no longer editable

Non Controlled

Records are not revision

  Non Controlled Edition A Non Controlled Record is being edited.

History

Revision has been superseded by a later version

Under Revision

If a record is Released and then Checked Out, the previous version takes “Under Revision” status. The record is not currently editable

Deleted The Record has been deleted.

 

File State

 

Icon System State Description

Newer than server

Use “Check In” or “Server Update” to upload to server

Older than server

Use “Get Latest” to get the latest version locally

Same as server

No need to upload or get file from server

 

None (No local file present)

Use “Open” or “Get Latest” to get the file locally

 

The Icons and System States can not be changed.
